MEGA Meet, Eat, and Greet: Building Strong School-Home Partnerships

Thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us for the MEGA Meet, Eat, and Greet afternoon last Wednesday. It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the BBQ and connecting with our staff in a relaxed, friendly setting. This gave parents a valuable opportunity to meet their child’s teachers, ask questions about the year ahead, and learn more about classroom routines and learning activities. Building strong partnerships between home and school from the very start helps us support each student’s learning, wellbeing, and confidence. We truly appreciate your involvement and look forward to working closely with you throughout the year to ensure every child’s success.

Building Strong Connections: Edgeworth Public School and the Glendale Educational Alliance

At Edgeworth Public School, we believe in the power of a strong community of schools to enrich learning opportunities and support student growth. We are proud to be part of the Glendale Educational Alliance alongside Glendale Technology High School, Glendale East Public School, Argenton Public School, and Elermore Public School.

Throughout the year, students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will visit Glendale Technology High School to participate in a variety of engaging, education-based programs. Today, our Year 3 students participated in hands-on science lessons. Year 6 students will take part in an exciting Sports Gala Day, Year 4 will enjoy a STEAM Day, Year 5 will experience a “Big Day Out” full of learning and fun and Year 6 will participate in a Sports Gala Day. These learning experiences not only strengthen the partnership between our primary schools and Glendale Technology High School but also support a Preschool to Year 12 approach, ensuring continuity and connection across all stages of education.

We also work within the Glendale Educational Alliance on many other important initiatives, including student leadership development and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander pathways, fostering inclusive opportunities for all students.

As a result of these strong foundations and partnerships, we have been able to continually build upon and enhance the transition from Year 6 to Year 7. Our students benefit from collaborative programs and activities that help them feel confident and prepared for the move to high school, strengthening their sense of belonging as they embark on the next stage of their educational journey.

Our staff also actively engage in professional learning across the community of schools. This term, the focus will be on student wellbeing and welfare, ensuring that our teachers and support staff continue to provide the best support for every learner.

Together, as part of the Glendale Educational Alliance, we are committed to creating a collaborative and supportive educational community for all students and families.

Celebrating Diversity and Supporting Every Learner

Edgeworth Public School is proud to celebrate the rich diversity of its community, and this year we have 33 different languages spoken by our students and their families. This vibrant multicultural environment creates a wonderful school atmosphere where cultures are valued and celebrated, fostering respect and understanding among all students.

We are committed to supporting all learners, including our students who are learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D). These students receive specialised support from our experienced EAL/D teacher, Mrs Haley Byon, who provides tailored instruction to help develop their English language and literacy skills. This support is aligned with the NSW Department of Education’s Multicultural Education Policy, which ensures that every student has equitable access to quality education and opportunities to succeed. For more information, please visit: https://education.nsw.gov.au/policy-library/policies/pd-2005-0234

At Edgeworth Public School, we embrace inclusive practices that promote intercultural understanding and build strong connections with families from every background, making our school a welcoming and supportive place for all.

To all who celebrate, we wish you a Happy Chinese New Year! 祝所有庆祝新年的朋友们新年快乐!
