Year 10 Upturned and Tree Climb - 10 and 11 August

Over the course of two days, Monday 10 August and Tuesday 11 August, all Year 10 students will participate in both an essential life-skills program and an outdoor adventure day.

Upturned runs an incredibly practical program designed to support students with the vital real-world skills that aren't always covered in a traditional classroom setting. This program will feature three highly engaging sessions:

  • Insurance, Bills, and Budgeting: Navigating independent financial responsibilities.
  • Living Well and Looking After Yourself: Practical strategies for mental and physical well-being.
  • Transport and Car Costs: Understanding the real costs of buying, running, and maintaining a vehicle.

For the active component of these days, everyone will be heading out for a day of outdoor challenge at TreeClimb, a brand-new adventure high and low ropes course that has recently opened in Kingston. It promises to be a brilliant day of team-building, personal challenge, and fun.

You can check out the course ahead of time at treeclimb.com.au. Adjusted Paperly has been released this week for Year 10 Families.

Indigenous Learning Week - 10 to 14 August

An integral part of the Year 9 Program is an Indigenous Understanding Week. Allowing students to learn more about First Nations culture in Australia and specifically Tasmania.

From Monday 10 August to Friday 14 August students will be engaged in numerous activities in House Groups led by staff and external facilitators, both on campus and off-site. The week is divided into different workshops that are shared across the five days.

Paperly has been released this week for Year 9 Families.

Exchange Trip to Germany 2027

We are thrilled to announce that planning is underway for an exciting educational and cultural exchange program to Germany in April 2027! This program offers students a unique, life-changing opportunity to immerse themselves in German culture, dramatically improve their language skills, and build global friendships that last a lifetime.

Trip Overview (Provisional)

  • When: April 2027 (Approx. 2–3 weeks, aligning partly with school holidays)
  • Who: Open to students in Years 9–11 having studied German for a minimum of two years.
  • What’s Included: Homestays with host families, attending our sister school, Lessing Gymnasium Uelzen, a 3-4 day stay in Berlin and a visit to Hamburg.

Why Participate?

  • Language Immersion: There is no better way to learn a language than to speak it every day with native speakers.
  • Cultural Growth: Students will experience authentic daily life in Germany, broadening their perspectives and building independence.
  • Reciprocal Hosting: As part of the exchange tradition, we also hope to welcome German students to our community later in the year (October 2027).

Next Steps: Express Your Interest

At this stage, we are gathering Expressions of Interest (EOI) to determine if we have sufficient numbers to move forward with booking and logistics. Submitting an EOI does not commit you financially or contractually; it simply helps us gauge viability. If your child is interested in this incredible adventure, please complete our quick digital form by Monday, 6 July, 2026.

Information Evening

We will host an information session at the beginning of Term 3 to discuss estimated costs, draft itineraries, and safety protocols. Stay tuned for the date and time! If you have any immediate questions, contact Christine Wittlinger.
