Principal Reflections

Dear Parents and Carers,

It's been wonderful to see the students return to school this week, and the anticipation was clearly evident in the playground at drop-off as everyone spoke excitedly of returning to school. This continued for some time in the classrooms as well. It simply demonstrates how much fun it is to be part of our St. Edward's community.

Term Three is always busy as we kick-start the second half of the academic year. If you have perused the school calendar, you will note the many planned events, including our Grandparents Day celebrations and the Year 3 and Year 4 excursions. When we add in our daily English, Mathematics and Religion blocks, the learning at St Edward's just gets better and better.

This term also involves the school leadership team and staff in planning for the following academic year. There will be the annual parent surveys that provide information that helps our school with the forward planning process. So please keep your eye out for the link in the coming weeks.

NAPLAN

In Term 1 of this year, students across Australia in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 completed NAPLAN assessments in the four domains of Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy. The results of NAPLAN 2026 have been released to parents today.

Parents receive an Individual Student Report (ISR) which identifies the student’s achievement in each of the four domains compared to school and state averages and against standard proficiency levels. An Additional Student Report (ASR) is also provided, offering further details on specific areas where the student demonstrated their performance. 

Please take the time to read these reports with your child. If you have any concerns or would like further clarification, please schedule a time to see or discuss this with your child's teacher.
