Looking Ahead to Term 3

As we look ahead to another exciting term of learning, our students will continue to build their knowledge, confidence and skills across all curriculum areas. Here's a snapshot of what they can look forward to in English and Mathematics next term, as well as a celebration of their achievements throughout Semester 1.

English

Next term, students across the school will be exploring the persuasive genre. While the focus develops across year levels, the goal remains the same: to help students communicate their ideas clearly and convincingly.

In the early years, students will learn to express their opinions and provide reasons to persuade others to agree with their point of view. As students move through the upper primary years, they will extend these skills by constructing persuasive texts on topics aimed at improving our school and wider community.

Throughout the term, students will develop and expand their ideas, organise their arguments using effective text structures, and apply a range of persuasive language features and devices to position their audience. They will also focus on using features of voice to communicate their message confidently and effectively, preparing them to become thoughtful, articulate communicators.

Mathematics

Our Mathematics learning next term continues to strengthen students' understanding of number while developing accuracy, confidence and fluency.

Across the school, students will deepen their knowledge of number concepts, with a strong focus on multiplication and division, fractions, decimals and percentages. These essential mathematical understandings provide the foundation for solving increasingly complex problems and applying mathematics in meaningful, real-world contexts.

Students will also develop their understanding of measurement. In the early years, this includes measuring and comparing length, mass and capacity. As students progress through the upper primary years, their learning extends to more complex concepts such as area, perimeter and angles, building the spatial reasoning skills needed for everyday life and future mathematical learning.

Through explicit teaching, hands-on experiences and opportunities to reason and problem-solve, students will continue to build the skills needed for success both in and beyond the classroom.

Celebrating Semester 1

As Semester 1 reports are shared with families, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the tremendous learning that has taken place throughout the first half of the year.

It has been fantastic to see our students embracing challenges, enjoying their learning and demonstrating growth across all learning areas. Their enthusiasm, perseverance and willingness to strive for success are evident in the progress they have made.

This success is a testament to the dedication of our teachers and teacher aides, who work tirelessly to create engaging, supportive and inclusive classroom environments where every student has the opportunity to thrive. We thank them for their commitment and congratulate all of our students on a successful Semester 1. We look forward to another exciting term of learning together.

Kind regards,
