Newham PS Highly Commended at  Landcare Awards

On the 18 July, Newham Primary School attended the 2023/2024 State and Territory Landcare Award, Victorian Awards presentation. Our school entered the category of Australian Government Community Partnerships Landcare Award and achieved Highly Commended.

Three year 6 students were selected to attend the conference with Ms Fullard. The students were chosen due to their consistent effort on our planting days throughout the year, demonstrating reliability, responsibility and hard work.

Congratulations to all the winners and highly commended individuals and organisations, particularly to Penny Roberts from Newham and District Landcare Group who was highly commended for the Joan Kirner Landcare Award, recognising a landcarer who has forged partnerships and inspired and mentored others to take action. Without Penny's encouragement and mentoring Newham PS may not have achieved so much in environmental revegetation over the years.

School Jackets

Since we introduced the soft shell, fleece lined school jacket, about half of the school student population have purchased them. Our 'dressing for the weather' work last term has led to students coming to school dressed appropriately. Students are wearing their jackets and beanies and layering up.

Jackets and beanies are still available from the school office.
