Welcome back to Term 3. It's been a chilly start to the term, there's also some heavy and tired eyes due to the Olympics. It's only every four years, very worth it! We look forward to many and various things ahead this term including 5/6 basketball, BUPA Woodend excursion, F-2 sleepover, ACMI excursion (F1), athletics and the Writers Festival in Bendigo. There's lots happening!
We started this week with a visit from World Vision. I was lucky to win a competition at the National Education Summit to get them out here (as well as them leaving some goodies in the staffroom) to chat to students about thier organisation. I had many students excitedly report back to me about kindness, looking outside of our home comforts and the 40 hour famine. Opportunities for students to hear about kindness and sense of others are really important to continuing to develop the community aspect of our school. I'm glad to hear they were engaged and found it interesting.
A reminder for trivia night which will be held at the Newham Hall on October 12th. Please save the date for what looks like a great night. We'll also look to include a goods and services auction on the night. If you have something you think you could contribute, OR are willing to help organise/plan/run the event please see one of our school council members. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Schools out have reduced thier prices considerably to provide thier service at our school. The service (before subsidy) costs $10 for AM and $15 for PM. Most families are paying less than $3 per session, some less than $1. It's well worth it! Wednesdays ARE AVAILABLE, however at this stage there are no bookings for Wednesdays which means Lachie may ask to be placed somewhere else. For the remainder of this year, NPS will continue to pay Schools Out for 5 days/week to keep them at our school.
