As we come to the end of Term 2, I would like to thank you everyone who has been involved in the cocurricular program this term; you add so much to the life of the college.

I hope everyone has a well-deserved break from training and games.  The ISA and IPSHA rounds will continue in Week 1 - Saturday 27 July.  Please see your respective sports as to resumption of training sessions.

An early notice that summer sport registrations will open early in Term 3.

Athletics

ANSW Cross Country Championships

Congratulations to Ben Fogale (Y9) and Cristiano Calcarao (Year 7) competed in the ANSW Cross Country Championships held on Nowra last Saturday.  

 

Ben raced in U15M 4km and came 30th (15:04).

 

Cristiano raced in the U14M 3km and came 4th (9:59), after a week of sickness it was a great result!

 

Training

Specialised Sprint and Distance training for Athletics will continue next term every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at Beauchamp Oval, Chatswood from 7:15 am. 

 

Who: Open to all Junior and Senior Students.

What to wear: Comfortable running gear 

What to Bring: Water bottle and your school uniform to change into afterwards back at The College.

 

If you are interested in some extra training or for general fitness, feel free to join the Willoughby Park runs on Saturday mornings at 7:00 am. We have created an SPX Runners Club for you to keep track of your results.

CSDA Debating

Our unbeaten Year 12B’s will be continuing their debating journey this Friday 28 June, in the Quarter Finals. We will be debating at Oakhill College with a 5:00 pm coin toss, debating against Bede Polding College, South Windsor.

 

Should St Pius X continue through to the next stages, dates are as follows: 

Semi Finals: Friday 26 July

Grand Final: Friday 2 August

 

We wish Jose Monk, James Leo, Harry Feehan and Alex Colinard all the best in this endeavor!

Football

Another wet weekend with many games being cancelled, some teams fortunately were able to play and a big thank you to all the families who made an effort to get their sons to games in the Southern Highlands. 

Congratulations to our 3rd XI team, pictured below, who won 8-0 at Oxley College.

A reminder that there are no games or training over the holidays. 

Training for all teams recommences on Wednesday 24 July.

ST PIUS X JULY HOLIDAY CAMPS

Monday 1 July – Thursday 4 July

9:00 am - 12:00 pm each day. 

Bus transport to and from Chatswood is available with details provided in link prior to registration.

Active Kids Vouchers accepted.

Coerver Coaching holiday camps offer a fun filled soccer experience for children aged 9-16 years. Each day will include Coerver® SKILLS competitions and challenges, Ball Mastery, Coaching sessions focusing on developing effective use of skill, small sided Coerver® Games, and mini Coerver Cup Tournament to keep players active.

With 2, 3 and 4 day options available this is a huge amount of footballing fun!

Rugby

As rain fell on Saturday most of the games were cancelled, with only three full games played and unfortunately dampening Rugby Supporter’s Day. Thanks to all who contributed to the day either through supporting the Rugby committee by buying a raffle ticket or supporting the College by watching some of the games in the morning. 

 

Rescheduled Games – St Augustine's 

Due to the washout last weekend the following games have been rescheduled to Tuesday 23 July – 

 

Venue: Oxford Falls 

15A – 4:00 pm kick off on Watkins

16A – 4:00 pm kick off on Chaplin 1

Buses will be available for students from Chatswood campus on Archer Street to Oxford Falls and then leaving Oxford Falls at 5:30 pm for a return trip to Chatswood. 

 

Venue: Sydney Academy of Sport (Wakehurst Parkway Narrabeen)

1st XV – 6:00 pm on SAS Oval 3

2nd XV – 4:45 pm on SAS Oval 3

A bus will be available for students leaving Chatswood on Archer Street after school, but no return trip will be available. Please make your own way home. 

 

Representatives Honours 

Congratulations to Niall Jaffreys, Oliver Yuen and Harrison Foulstone for representing Manly in the recent U16 NSW State Championships in Coffs Harbour. Well done to Harrison who has since been selected to join the NSW Presidents XV team in the upcoming Regionals.

Rugby Training Reminder 

Training has finished for the term as parent teacher interviews commence for Year 7- 10 on Thursday and Friday. As per Clipboard, rugby training will commence in Term 3 on 23 July.

Rugby Gala Dinner

With the Kirribilli Club going into unexpected administration, the Rugby Committee has swiftly secured a new venue.  We are pleased to advise that the Gala Dinner will now be held at Dockside, Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Harbour.

Leave the car at home as this venue is easily accessible via bus, train and uber.
