Student Services

Faculty

As Term 2 draws to a close, we would like to celebrate with you and reflect on what has been a busy and productive time in Student Services. This term has been filled with learning, personal growth and achievements of our young people.

Student wellbeing continues to be a top priority at Henry Kendall High School. We have several initiatives aimed at promoting mental health and wellbeing. The programs offered through Student Services to empower young people and their resilience building skills have been well received by our students.

Wellbeing Wednesday is a dedicated time each week, during roll call where students focus on various wellbeing topics. Each week, students engage in activities and discussions designed to build resilience and personal success. This initiative fosters a holostic educational experience for our young people, ensuring that our students emotional and mental health is given the same importance as their academic achievements.

Each week, over 100 young people access breakfast club from Student Services. This initiative is available to all students who are in need of breakfast or who would like a top up meal. Food is generously donated by Bakers Delight West Gosford every Thursday.

Breakfast Club has made a holistic contribution to the school by increasing student’s attendance, readiness to learn and cognitive function and has widened young people’s social and support network.

This term 15 young people graduated from the Top Blokes Program. The mentoring program helps young males to redefine their notion of a ‘top bloke’ as resilient, empathetic and authentic. The mentoring programs offer tools for growth and wellbeing, fostering communities of trust and respect. We are very proud of our students on the completion of this program.

Year 9 Creative Wellbeing Workshop

Our year 9 students participated in a wellbeing day run by Headspace in collaboration with Lead By Story. The day aimed to enhance students' mental health and wellbeing through creative activities designed to help them express their thoughts and emotions in a supportive environment. Students had the opportunity to develop their creativity and resilience. A highlight of the day was watching some of our students take on a local poet Will Small in a poetry slam.

Meet The Team

In Student Services, we have a wonderful team of wellbeing and learning support staff. Throughout the year, we will be highlighting our staff in our newsletter and you will have the opportunity to get to know us a little better.
