Wow, Term 2 has flown by! Year 7 students have settled in smoothly and expanded their understanding of representing numbers. They've progressed to exploring additive thinking. Meanwhile, in Stage 4, Year 8 students have delved into equations and begun learning about graphing linear equations.

Moving up to Stage 5, Year 9 has been focusing on indices, data analysis, and deepening their understanding of graphing linear and quadratic equations. Year 10 students have also tackled Data Analysis and applied their problem-solving skills across various measurement aspects.

Our Year 11 Subject Selection Evening was a great opportunity to connect with many students and parents. We're excited to help guide each student toward a path that best suits their needs.

In Stage 6, our students have been diligently preparing for end-of-term assessment tasks. These assessments primarily test their ability to recall information under examination conditions, emphasizing the importance of thorough preparation at home. Year 11 Final Examinations and Year 12 Trial HSC Examinations are approaching, so students should focus on revising notes, creating summaries and completing practice questions. Students needing assistance should reach out to their teachers.

Our "Golden Calculator" initiative, now featuring celebrity presenter "Captain Calc," continues to be a hit. This award is presented at each Celebration Assembly to recognize students who consistently excel in Maths. Winners receive the privilege of using the golden calculator in class and a $10 voucher for our school canteen. Congratulations to Olivia Doan (Year 9) and Ethan Patterson (Year 8), our winners this term!

"Milo and Maths" has been a big hit across all year groups this term. Held before school on Tuesdays in room GL9, this welcoming environment allows students to drop in from 8.00am onward. They can receive help from teachers, work through problems with friends, complete homework, and enjoy a free hot or cold Milo.

Our junior students have embraced Edrolo as a valuable platform for regular homework. It provides crucial practice of classroom concepts with instant feedback. Students can also watch concept videos at their convenience to reinforce understanding and reflect on their comprehension. Homework arrangements are tailored by individual classes in collaboration with their teachers.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable winter holiday break and looking forward to a productive Term 3 ahead!
