Level 1

Level 1

Check out what has been happening inside the classroom of 1RK. We have been learning lots of new skills.

LITERACY

In Literacy, we have continued to explore and learn about Non-fiction books. We are reading and discovering new facts by reading texts and using technology (EPIC) to take down notes in our own words. We have been having fun creating our own information reports by choosing our own animal and separating the correct information underneath their heading and writing simple sentences about their appearance, habitat, diet and other interesting facts. Here are some of the facts the students have found out about their chosen animal: Toads can have green lump skin – Collin Frogs have long skinny legs – Harrison Frogs have big goggle eyes – Ryker Platypuses have no teeth but use their beak to eat – Hannah Frogs usually try to find their partners in winter to survive – Phoenix Frogs eat bugs such as spiders and worms – Lucas Platypus eats insects and crayfish – Claire Tortoises have no teeth - Amatuallah

NUMERACY

In Numeracy, we have been learning about location and mapping. We have been able to use a range of words to describe different directions we can go including up, down, left or right. Using these words, we directed a partner to find an object out in the playground. We have been learning how to describe the position of an item using language like ‘inside’, ‘underneath’ and ‘on top’. We have been able to locate different objects on a grid and create our own image using our knowledge of different grid references.  Look at our Minecraft creations:
