Level 5

Level  5

In Level 5 this fortnight, we have had so much fun. We have thoroughly enjoyed critically analysing and voting for our ‘Level 5 HEPS Prime Minister’. Ask your kids who won the election!

Level 5 have had a big focus on Inquiry as we have been coming to the end of our ‘People Power’ unit. We have been reading through character descriptions and beliefs of 5 potential Prime Minister candidates. On Tuesday, we all participated in a vote, following the preferential voting process.

In Reading, we have critiqued the choices the author has made around word choice, sentence structure and character descriptions. We have looked at ads and slogans that political parties have used to persuade us to think a certain way.

In Writing, we have been developing our own persuasive piece about the Prime Minister candidate of our choice. We have been trying to incorporate at least 3 persuasive devices in our writing and supporting our claims with evidence.

In Numeracy, we have been learning about measurement and graphing. Some classes have made paper planes, thrown them and recorded the distances. We collated the data into tables then created various graphs.

We have also bid farewell to Mrs Bulfin. We wish her and her family the best of luck and we can’t wait for a visit from her later in the year!

The Level 5 teachers would like to congratulate the students on their fantastic learning throughout this semester. We hope that you all have a safe and relaxing school holidays!
