In Digital Technologies, Year 5 and 6 students are continuing to work on their Lego Mindstorm robots. We have had some successful robots, including this one, able to pick up and move bricks with its claw.

Years 3 and 4 have been devising marble runs, thinking about the sequence of tubes needed to bring the marble from one end of the table top to the other.

On an exciting note, Years 5 and 6 have been invited to participate in the first ever Parkdale Secondary College Science Fair.

Parkdale’s Year 9 Enhanced Science students have organised a Science Fair and have invited Years 5 & 6 students from their feeder primary schools to enter.  Their aim is to inspire future scientists, just as they were inspired by others.

The theme of the Science Fair is “Where great ideas collide”. There are three categories within the Primary School division.

  • Scientific Arts and Photography
  • Scientific Writing
  • Scientific Experiments

Individual or group (maximum of 4 students) entries are accepted.

Key dates are:

30th May: Registration forms are due (but this date can be extended).

31st July: Entries delivered to Parkdale SC.

15th August: Expo evening and prize presentation night.

Prizes will be awarded in each division and category.

Students are expected to organise and create entries in their own time, but are welcome to ask for help at school. For entry forms and further details, please contact olivia.bolton@education.vic.gov.au
