Visual Arts

Kerry Eeckman

Visual Arts Teacher

The Year 1 students have been working very hard on developing their drawing skills and thinking like an Artist.

Over a term and a half, they have been immersed in warm up exercises, basic drawing skills and observing and recording details they can see in leaves. It has been the perfect time to really look closely at the beauty of leaves with so many falling from our Kingswood trees. We have noticed the water droplets, the textured veins, the holes and possible caterpillar munch marks.

We also learnt some new watercolour techniques such as brushing, dabbing, blending, layering and creating a wash. This allowed us to compare the pencil drawing to the water coloured image. The Year 1's have created amazing compositions that are truly worthy of framing, well done!

Thank you to the following people for making donations to the Visual Arts program: Howell family, Farley family, Caleb 5B, Rafael Prep, Lemmer family, Om family and staff members, Helen and Liliane. I am sure I have missed some names however, your assistance is very much appreciated.
