Year 10 Advance

As part of Year 10 Advance, students delivered their planned community projects. Students worked in groups to develop, plan and deliver a project that supports the community in a number of ways. The projects ranged from food stalls and a range of activities like a photobooth at school for students, building student engagement and supporting their health and wellbeing. A group was also able to collect for Foodbank, an organisation that supports members of the community with basic items like food and sanitary products. All profits raised will be donated to White Ribbon Australia in support of their work to curve and stop violence against women and children.

Students also volunteered at Fareshare – an organisation that provides meals to people in need in our community. Students and their teachers were able to assist in preparing ingredients and packaging meals ready for distribution. A really valuable experience for students undertaking Advance, as they learn about the benefits of community involvement, as well as building their own skills in leadership, teamwork and communication.

Well done to all students for their efforts in coming up with their ideas, budgeting, planning and delivering their community projects. The college looks forward to Advance in Semester 2.

Basketball program visited MacKellar Primary school

On Friday 14th June, selected students from our basketball program visited MacKellar Primary school to coach their Grade 5 and 6 interschool sport students. It was a great experience for all, where our students were given the opportunity to develop their coaching skills and their students got an insight into what Copperfield offers, such as our basketball program. This is part of our transition program where we build connections with our neighbouring primary schools. Overall, it was an enjoyable morning for all!
