Staff Changes for 2025

Continuing Our Journey: Changes for 2025

As we prepare for the year ahead, we are excited to share some important leadership updates at St Columba’s. At the end of this year, Bern has made the decision to step away from her role as Deputy Principal. We wish to take this opportunity to celebrate Bern’s extraordinary contribution to our school community, recognising the profound impact she has had over the years.

Bern is adored and respected by everyone—students, staff, and families alike. Her unwavering commitment to care, empathy, and inclusion has been instrumental in shaping St Columba’s into a place where every child feels a deep sense of belonging. As Deputy Principal, Bern has been a source of guidance, support, and inspiration, fostering connections and working tirelessly to ensure the wellbeing of every member of our school community. This is a moment to reflect and celebrate the exceptional leadership that Bern has provided and the lasting impact she has made during this time.

While Bern is stepping away from the Deputy Principal position, she will remain a vital presence in our community, continuing her work in the area of Wellbeing. Her hallmark kindness and nurturing spirit will remain at the heart of initiatives that promote care, inclusion, and social-emotional development, ensuring that every student feels valued, connected, and secure. Bern’s unwavering dedication to the wellbeing of our students, staff, and families will remain a cornerstone of our community, and we are so grateful for all she has done—and will continue to do—to make St Columba’s a brighter, more inclusive, and compassionate place.

We are delighted to announce that Natalie Cromie will take on the role of Deputy Principal in 2025. As our current Learning Diversity Leader, Natalie brings extensive experience and a deep commitment to fostering a culture of care, excellence, and inclusivity. She will continue in her current role while taking on this new leadership position. We warmly welcome Natalie to this important role and look forward to continuing to build on our strengths and further enhancing the supportive and inspiring environment that makes St Columba’s unique.

Celebrating Our Staff Members – Farewells and New Adventures

I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge some of our wonderful staff members as they move on to new adventures.

First, we say a heartfelt goodbye to Kim. Kim has worked as Learning Support in our classrooms since 2021. Kim has worked with incredible commitment and care, and every child at St Columba’s will miss her—especially the Year 2 class, who have been fortunate to have her support for the past three years. While Kim is moving on from her role in the classroom here, she will still be a familiar face at Aftercare, so she won’t be completely gone! We’re grateful for everything Kim has contributed to our community.

We’re also celebrating Steph Campbell and Gemma Canalini, two amazing members of our teaching team, who are heading off on maternity leave. Gemma is about to become a first-time mum, while Steph is preparing to welcome her second child. We’re so excited for both of them as they start these beautiful new journeys. Although we’ll miss them at school, we can’t wait to hear all about their new adventures at home!

Thank you, Kim, Steph, and Gemma, for being such valuable members of the St Columba’s family. You’ve all made a huge difference, and we’re excited for the new experiences ahead for each of you!
