Grade 5 and 6

Kangaroobie Capers: A Camp Like No Udder!

Grade 5 and 6 students hopped into adventure at Kangaroobie, where the farm vibes were strong, and the memories were even stronger! From catching waves to catching laughs, Kangaroobie delivered a roos-ter of activities that had everyone buzzing.

Surf’s up! Students rode the waves (and wiped out) with determination before swapping wetsuits for gumboots to dive into life on the farm. From feeding animals to mucking in with chores, they embraced the dirt and discovered their inner farmhands. The obstacle course was no walk in the paddock—mud-caked knees, twisty tunnels, and slippery slides tested resilience and teamwork like pros!

Evenings were a barnstorming good time at the Bush Hoe-down, where line-dancing lit up the night. By day, the canoes hit the water as students paddled in sync, building grit and grins along the way. The Aboriginal artifacts talk and Worn Gundidj knowledge-building session at Moyjil Point Ritchie brought history and culture alive, sparking deep connections and awe.

The game of ‘Life or Death’ had everyone strategising for survival, while the night bush walk turned the stars into a magical canopy for adventure. Late-night giggles in cabins rolled into early morning starts, fueling a camp spirit filled with grit, determination, and unbreakable bonds.

Kangaroobie wasn’t just a camp; it was a hop, skip, and a jump into resilience, friendship, and fun! From mud to memories, it’s safe to say that Kangaroobie will forever hold a roo-m in everyone’s hearts.

Making Waves in the Shark Tank of Curiosity!

For our CBL Challenge, the Grade 5 and 6s  dove deep into the Big Idea of Curiosity, with students taking a bite out of big business thinking! Pitching their sustainable or ethical business ideas to the "Sharks" (their fearless teachers), the students turned up the creativity and wowed everyone with their outstanding, thought-provoking presentations.

From clever concepts to polished business plans, these budding entrepreneurs left no stone unturned. They confidently tackled the Sharks’ tricky, incisive questions, using informed voices that showed just how much thought and effort went into their ideas. The room buzzed with excitement as negotiations wrapped up and cheques were handed out—proof that these pitches were pure gold!

This celebration of curiosity wasn’t just about the now—it was about inspiring the next generation to think smarter, shop wiser, and care more for our planet. These students showed that curiosity doesn’t just spark ideas—it drives innovation, responsibility, and the power to create change.

Bravo to all the young innovators who made this CBL Challenge a fin-tastic success! The planet’s future is looking brighter, one brilliant pitch at a time. 🌍💡

Grade 5 Captaincy: Leaders in the Making!

Grade 5 students stood tall and proud as they delivered their captaincy speeches, showcasing not just their words but their courage, character, and commitment to leadership. Behind every speech was a mountain of effort—hours of brainstorming, writing, rehearsing, and perfecting every detail to make their voices heard.

Speaking in front of peers and teachers took bravery and nerves of steel, yet each student faced the challenge with poise and determination. Whether their speeches were heartfelt, funny, or inspiring, every one of them shone brightly, demonstrating the qualities of true leaders.

What stood out most was the way they supported one another. Encouragement filled the air as they clapped, cheered, and celebrated each other’s efforts, proving that leadership isn’t just about winning—it’s about lifting others up.

For those who didn’t get the role this time, their strength of character was extraordinary. They handled disappointment with grace and resilience, setting an example of sportsmanship and maturity.

Grade 5 captaincy wasn’t just about speeches or outcomes—it was about growth, courage, and the incredible bonds that were built along the way. Every student left the stage a winner, proving that leadership begins with heart, effort, and the bravery to try.
