The Spirit of Giving

"It is more blessed to give than to receive." - Acts 20:35

As we approach Christmas, we are reminded of the ultimate gift given to us - the birth of Jesus Christ. This season is not just about receiving gifts but also about embodying the spirit of giving. Charity is a powerful way to reflect God's love and grace to those around us.

With the allure of Black Friday sales, it's easy to get caught up in the excitement and buy things we don't really need. While it's okay to enjoy the sales ( I certainly am!), let's also remember to prioritise our resources towards helping others. Instead of focusing solely on material possessions, we can use this opportunity to give back and make a difference in someone's life.

In our local communities, there are many who may be struggling, feeling lonely, or in need of support. This Christmas, let's open our hearts and extend a helping hand. Whether it's donating to a local food bank, volunteering at a shelter, or simply offering a kind word to a neighbour, every act of kindness can make a significant impact. This Wednesday the children are invited to participate in the ‘Christmas Casual Day’ to help support our local community and bring joy to families in real need. We are asking our children (and their families) to bring in non-perishables that will bring joy: Christmas food treats, chocolates, biscuits, mince pies etc. instead of a coin donation. Donations can be brought in all this week.

Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us to remember the true meaning of Christmas and to share your love with others. Guide us to see the needs in our community and to respond with generosity and compassion. May our actions reflect your grace and bring joy to those around us. Amen.

This week, find a way to give back to your community. It could be through a small donation, volunteering your time, or even organising a community event. Remember, every act of charity, no matter how small, is a step towards making the world a better place. And as you navigate the Black Friday sales, consider how you can use your resources to bless others.

I hope this devotion inspires you and others to spread kindness and love this Christmas season, while also being mindful of how we use our resources! 🎄✨
