SPC Festival of Carols and Readings Tickets Available

The College’s Festival of Carols and Readings will take place on Wednesday 27 November at 6:30 PM in the College Chapel. It is a tradition dating back centuries in the Church that helps Christians prepare for the Christmas season. It is a celebration of our faith, our community and our hopes. It is the bringing together of beautiful music from our College Choir, communal singing of carols and listening to readings which tell us the story leading up to the birth of Christ. It is an evening of joy!!!

Year 7 students and those in the College Choir will be in attendance (and do not need a ticket). Everybody else in the community is invited to be part of the evening (however, there are limited tickets available). Get your tickets here SPC Festival of Carols and Readings.

We look forward to an evening that showcases the beauty and love that exists in the world; something we need more now in these times of war, hardship and hatred. God is love! So let us proclaim Him at all times and take opportunities such as this to remind ourselves of all that is good.

Identity Events This Term

Everything that happens in College life relates to our Identity, however there are some specific events that are happening in this space that remind us more clearly about it. Here is just a snapshot of what is still to come before the year is out. If you don’t know about something, perhaps ask your sons as they should know!

  • Senior Retreat, taking place this week.
  • Friday Morning Mass – every Friday at 8:10 AM in the Chapel up to and including Friday 29 November.
  • Year 10 Immersion Applications due Tuesday 19 November.
  • The new year of Year 11 Social Justice Service commences on 20 November.
  • The new year of Shining Our Light (SOL) Service commences on 20 November.
  • Re-scheduled Year 8 Walk-a-Thon for their Justice Partners, Caritas, on Thursday 21 November, Periods 3 and 4.
  • Junior School (Years 5 and 6) Mission Mass and Fundraising for their Justice Partners on Thursday 21 November, Periods 1 and 2.
  • Year 10 Reflection Program on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 November; the theme is The Spirituality of Justice (You reap what you sow – Galatians 6)
  • SPC Festival of Carols and Readings, Wednesday 27 November at 6:30 PM in the College Chapel.
  • Year 6 Thanksgiving Mass on Thursday 28 November at 5:00 PM in the College Gym.
  • SPC Christmas Appeal to be finalised on Friday 29 November.

It is a busy lead into the holidays, but it’s a time filled with purposeful, reflective and joyous occasions and actions; all that teach us what life is about and help us to be our best selves in how we treat others, just like Dr Lavorato discussed at last week’s assembly.

God bless you all in your endeavours – may they be filled with love and hope.

Fundraising for our Mission Partners

The boys in Stage 3, Years 5 and 6 are currently fundraising for our biggest fundraising event of 2024, The Mission Walk with the aim of raising over $40,000 for our Mission Partners.

We thank all the families that have been supporting the boys so that they are able to raise funds to support the important work that our Mission Partners are involved in.

Next Thursday 21 November the students will celebrate Mission Mass together. Following that we will be taking part in the WALK FOR CHANGE, the boys will walk in the back ovals for a duration of an hour and for half that time they will be walking in silence.

The aim is to raise awareness of the constant difficulties that many people in the world face and are unable to ‘stop’ and simply take a ‘time out’ from.

Our partners this year are St Gabriel’s School Castle Hill, St Edmund’s School Wahroonga, Mission Australia and Chetanalaya in India.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our students and their learning beyond the classroom.
