A contagious dose of Christmas spirit has started in Performing Arts classes as we prepare for the upcoming concerts and events this term. 59 days till 25 December!
Some key dates:
Nov 16: Choir will sing at Bupa Aged Care, Templestowe. Invites await consent in Compass.
Dec 7: "Carols on the hill (oval)" P-6 students will perform in classes at our annual school carol evening at ACPS
Dec 16: Warrandyte Carols at Stintons Reserve. All Grade 2s and 3-6 Choir are invited to perform on stage.
We are SO pleased to announce our 2024 production will be Shrek The Musical JR. Our valued parent Gavin Andrew will be working alongside ACPS staff and students to produce another high calibre production in June 2024. Excitingly most rehearsals will occur during school hours (lunchtime practises) so families will not need to juggle this with other extra-curricular activities for most of the rehearsal weeks. It will be an exceptional opportunity for students to enhance and discover theatre talents in a range of performing and non-performing roles. Of course there will be some weekend commitments where attendance will be required closer to the performance. Auditions for principal roles will commence soon via video submission and expressions of interest for ensemble cast will be collected. More information regarding audition and commitment requirements will be sent via compass next week.
THE PLOT: It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family. With abundant opportunities for imaginative sets and costumes, and a host of over-the-top roles for an expandable cast, there's a part for everyone in this dazzling adventure story. Here is a clip from to the "non Jr" show but it gives you a good idea and gets your feet tapping and heart bubbling... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2VQ2pfXbyI
