Inquiry

As part of our Inquiry Unit, we are learning about What causes night and day? 

The rising of the Sun and the Moon are daily reminders of the awe and wonder, beauty and power of the universe. Studying the relationships between the Sun, Earth and Moon helps us understand how we experience day and night on Earth.  We made amazing Sun, Earth and Moon mobiles.  We are super excited and looking forward to our excursion to Scienceworks and the Planetarium.

The One and Only Ivan

We are are enjoying, our class novel -The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. 

The story is about a gorilla named Ivan  - "The Ape at Exit 8" is Ivan, a mighty Silverback Gorilla, who lives in a circus-themed shopping mall. Based on a true story, but told in Ivan's own voice using simple language and short chapters, this is a story about friendship, compassion for animals, the promises we make, and the things we will do to help someone in need. The students enjoyed drawing and designing  a new front for The One and Only Ivan.
