New - Welcome to our 2024 Preps

Over the next 3 weeks we extend a warm welcome to our 2024 preps as they visit the Prep rooms for transition sessions. We forward to meeting you all again and seeing you all here at St Marys as you begin your journey into Primary School.

New - 1/2 Excursion Recount

Bendigo Discovery Centre. By Nate Bale 1/2 FD

Last Friday all of the Grade 1/2s went to the Bendigo Discovery Centre. We had to go on the bus to get there. We left at 8 o’clock and it took an hour and a half to get there. My bus partner was Jayda. We stopped at Lake Weeroona to have a little snack. At Lake Weeroona there was a playground and two vans were selling a different type of food. One was selling coffee and the other was selling hotdogs.

Then we went to the Discovery Centre. First we went to the new planetarium. We learned different stuff about space and planets. There was also a video that showed us some photos about space. Then we went on the vertical slide. You need to wear a special suit that stops your clothes form gripping to the slide. The first two metres of the slide is a straight drop. Not many people went down the slide but I was brave and went down.

After that we went to the mini science lab to do some experiments. We used stuff from skittles to balloons. There was also an experiment where a little tube-like thing shot up to the roof! There was also a general exhibits section that everyone got to try. My favourite general exhibits were the mirror maze and frozen shadows.

I loved going to the Bendigo Discovery Centre. I wish I can go there another time.

NEW - 5/6's Go Around the world

The 5/6 students recently took a flight around the world aboard STMAIR airlines! They visited Tokyo, Kenya, Utah, Rio and Berlin to launch our Term 4 inquiry topic - “How do people, places and cultures differ across the world?”!
