Last Monday night, 27th November 2023, the Glen Innes Rotary Club held their annual Rotary Youth Citizenship Awards Dinner. This award is given by the Rotary Club to two students in Year 6 chosen by the staff and school who display characteristics of the following criteria:
* A willingness to participate in voluntary activities
* Shown fellowship, based on mutual respect, for all members of the school community
* Displayed qualities of ambition and leadership
* Applied industrious attention to study and developed talents which are an example to fellow students
* Shown a caring attitude towards junior pupils whether inside or outside the classroom.
There were a number of nominees and many who were deserving. This year our St. Joseph’s School recipients of the Rotary Club Youth Citizenship awards were: Danyela Bailey and George Claxton.
On Monday night, Danyela and George attended the awards dinner with their families and Miss Condrick, Miss McMeniman, Mrs Fletcher and Mr. Withers. As part of the evening, Danyela and George gave very admirable acceptance speeches. Congratulations Danyela and George, we are all very proud of you. Well deserved!
