Principal's Report

Thoughts from our Principal - Mr Geoff McManus

I trust that all of our families, community and parish members enjoyed our annual Presentation Day last Tuesday at the Town Hall. As a formal ceremony that celebrates the high achievement, persistence and reward for the HARD WORK of our beautiful and talented children, I don’t think we could have asked for a better event. As I have said many times this year and showcased in my public address on Tuesday, nobody has ever achieved any sort of success in life without pure and simple HARD WORK. Thank you to our super team of skilful helpful adults who worked for weeks behind the scenes and on the day to produce a seamless and highly effective display of academic excellence. Congratulations to all of the nominees and award winners and on behalf of the staff, we look forward to supporting ongoing and continued growth and achievement from all of our children who choose to “buy-in” to our whole school culture of HARD WORK and testing themselves at the next level.

It is my pleasure to announce the 2024 Stage teams of skilful helpful adults who will be working with our wonderful children next year.

Kinder - Miss McShane and Mrs Webel

Stage 1 - Mrs Hogan, Mrs Kent, Mrs McManus, Mrs Smith and Mr Webel

Stage 2 - Mrs Little, Mrs Parsons,  Mrs Barratt and Mrs Tarrant

Stage 3 - Ms McMeniman, Miss Condrick, Mrs Core and Mrs Fletcher

Relief from Face-to-Face (RFF) teachers - Mr Withers, Mrs Smith, Mrs Adams

Library - Mrs Adams

CAPA (Music & Drama) - Mrs Core

Inclusion Support Teacher - Mrs Gannon

MaST Project teacher - Mrs McManus

You may notice a higher number of adults in the Stage 1 team than normal. While Mrs Hogan and Mrs Kent remain the main teachers on the stage, by adding higher adult density to this team of skilful helpful adults, we intend to grow differentiated practice that even more finely targets students at their level of need , particularly in Literacy and Numeracy. This is not a permanent arrangement, but rather one that once again shows our commitment to actively supporting and improving the pedagogical expertise of our gifted teachers and support staff.

As I stated in the last newsletter, please keep a weather eye on the COMPASS App and Facebook for important school events that will occur over the final fortnight of 2023. Note that the format for the 2023 Community Day on Thursday 14 December will include both a trip to the local movie theatre as well as fun activities in the classrooms. Please keep an eye out for the COMPASS push next week regarding the movie classifications and be assured there will be no extra cost to families for the movies or the “snacks”!

This is the second last newsletter for the year. School finishes for all children and staff on Friday 15 December. The office will close on that date at 4 pm until Wednesday 31 January, 2024

Until next time.

May our God go with you

Geoff McManus
