Resource lists for 2024 students
Year 11 & 12
Resource lists for students entering Year 11 & 12 next year have been distributed via email to parents and students. For students in these year levels, orders must be completed online at www.campion.com.au by Sunday 29 October 2022. Orders must be prepaid by credit card to Campion. This will ensure that students have their textbooks and digital items in time for Early Commencement classes, which begin on Monday 20 November. For parents new to Year 11, ‘Early Commencement’ is the beginning of the Year 11/12 VCE program, and runs for two weeks at the end of Term 4 each year. This gives students an introduction to their 2024 subjects and sets them up with homework to be completed over the summer, in preparation for Term 1 assessment tasks.
Textbooks ordered from Campion by the due date can be delivered to students’ homes or you can ‘click and collect’ from Campion. The boxes are expected to contain all of the available texts for the Early Commencement classes. Please note that there may be some texts that have not yet been published; these will be distributed to students by subject teachers as soon as they arrive, usually very early in Term 1.
Information about how to access Edrolo resources will be given in classes during Early Commencement. Please note that the Edrolo resources are compulsory for all subjects where listed on the booklist. Students whose Edrolo access is not paid for via the booklist will have the cost added to their 2024 term fees with an additional processing fee of $5 per subject.
Any student who is unsure about their 2024 subjects should speak with their Head of Year as soon as possible.
Prep to Yr 10
Resource lists for students in all other year levels in 2024 will be distributed via email later this term. The due date for resource lists for Prep to Year 10 students in 2024 is not until 17 December.
Students currently in Years 7 to 9 will be given confirmation of their 2024 elective subjects in time for resource list ordering. Any queries about student elective subjects should be directed to your child's current Head of Year.
ICT Devices for 2024
If you are considering buying a new digital device for your son or daughter for use at school, please keep in mind the following points:
- All students in Years 3 to 9 are required to have an iPad, a robust cover and headphones that connect to the device
- Primary school students should be using wired headphones in most cases, to ensure that they can connect quickly and that the headphones do not need charging
- Students in Years 10 to 12 can choose to use an iPad or a Macbook computer
- It is possible for students in Senior School to use a laptop which uses a Windows operating system (that is, a laptop which is not a Macbook), but the College is only able to provide very limited IT support for these devices, due to the many, many brands and configurations available. In these cases, the College will endeavour to get the device connected to WiFi but cannot offer any other technical support.
- Student devices must be in working order and should be using a recent operating system. It doesn’t have to be the ‘current’ version, but should be one that was released within the last three years.
- ICT support is available for student devices as long as they meet these requirements. The email address for support is ITsupport@aitkencollege.edu.au
Christmas time and the start of a new school year place heavy demands on retailers for these devices. Please make sure that if you need to purchase a new device, you do so with plenty of time so that you can be sure the device is ready for the beginning of 2024 classes.
JB Hi-Fi has provided the College with an access code to allow parents to order devices online and to receive ‘education pricing’. The College does not benefit financially from this arrangement. Details have been emailed to all current Year 2 and Year 9 parents. More details, including the access code, can also be found at https://myaitken.fireflycloud.net.au/ehelp/jb-hifi-device-purchasing.
