Leadership Report

Where has Term 3 gone?

Wow, this term feels like a whirlwind and it has absolutely flown by!

It feels like it was only a few days ago that we were gearing up and commencing the term and already we are at the end!

Throughout this entire time, the whole staff and students have continued to amaze me and make me so proud of the work we are doing and the improvement we are supporting our kids to make. The staff collegiality has been incredible and I absolutely love working with everyone (staff, students, and the community) and am very excited about what the future holds for us at Marion!

Farewells and well-wishes

Sadly, today we are farewelling Rachel McFarlane who has been working with us this year at the Front Desk. We wish Rachel all the best in her new role working at Seaford Rise Primary School. The students and staff will be lucky to have you working with them and I am sure you will quickly grasp all aspects of working in a different site and role. We are sad to say farewell and appreciate all of the amazing work you have done with us here at Marion PS! You will be sorely missed but I am sure there are many wonderful opportunities around the corner for you. All the best from everyone at Marion PS!

Sharon Harvey is going to be working and covering the front admin desk in Term 4. She has been so flexible and understanding and I appreciate her accepting this role to support and help us out of a tricky bind. Sharon's previous experience covering this role in Term 4 last year will ensure that we are able to smoothly operate as per usual next term.

Today, we also wish Sue Sifa goodbye and best wishes for her upcoming knee operations. Sue will be returning with us in 2024 as our Science NIT teacher but this is her final day working in Leadership as the Deputy Principal. I absolutely adore and treasure Sue, our working relationship but also our tight and strong friendship that we have developed. I will miss her immensely and have learned so much from her! The work she does is absolutely centered around the students and families and her warmth and empathy for every scenario is something I admire. All the best for your surgery, Sue - we will spot you preparing for marathons in 2024 pounding up and down the pavement along the Esplanade at Brighton!

I would therefore like to congratulate and welcome Georgina Sprigg into the Deputy Principal role for Term 4 who won an internal vacancy application process. I am very much looking forward to working in Leadership with Georgina and building on the work we are currently doing. Georgina has a wealth of experience in leadership and in particular, the Deputy Principal role at Marion PS, as well as a strong understanding and background in inclusion and special education. She will be a wonderful asset to the leadership ranks and will make a seamless transition for us backfilling behind Sue.

Happy holidays and see you again in Term 4

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday break doing the things that make you happy with friends and family. It has been a busy term and everyone deserves a well-earned holiday break.

Enjoy, stay safe and well, and see everyone back again in Term 4 on Tuesday 17th October, 2023 following our Pupil Free Day on Monday 16th October, 2023.
