NAPLAN 2024

Dear Year 7 and Year 9 Parents and Guardians,

In 2024, St Philip’s students will be undertaking their NAPLAN assessments online.

All students in Years 7 and 9 will sit for the NAPLAN Tests from Wednesday 13th March to Monday 25th March 2024.

Year 9 students will be using their Managed Device, so we request that they please ensure that they are fully charged.

As part of the planning for these tests, students with special needs or considerations need to be identified and the appropriate paperwork completed. Special Provisions come under the following categories: Disability Adjustments, Withdrawals and Exemptions.

  • Adjustments are provided to students with a disability to enable an equivalent learner experience during NAPLAN testing and to encourage maximum participation.
  • Withdrawals are intended to address issues such as religious beliefs and philosophical objections to testing.

Criteria for exemption:

  • Students with a language background other than English, who arrived from overseas and have been attending school in Australia for less than a year before the test, should be given the opportunity to participate in testing, but may be exempted.

OR

  • Students with significant intellectual disability and/or students with significant coexisting conditions that severely limit their capacity to participate in the tests may be exempted from taking NAPLAN.

If you feel that your child falls into any of the above categories or you would like to discuss your child’s participation in the tests, please contact me by email: steve.kimber@stphilips.nt.edu.au

All relevant paperwork needs to be completed and returned no later than Monday 26th February 2024.
