Year Advisers Reports

Years 8, 10 & 12

Welcome back Year 8!!

I can’t believe a year has gone by! The effort, application and teamwork displayed at the end of 2023 has continued into 2024. Many of you have shown an increased maturity and enthusiasm across your classes. This year, students welcome French into their timetables and look toward elective selection for Year 9 during the year.

Responsibility, Resilience, Gratitude, Empathy and Teamwork

As a team, we will continue striving toward our core values throughout the year. These values are reflected on in each Year Assembly as we hold each other accountable and aim to display our personal best as individuals and as a team.

Hooley’s Hero’s also continue in 2024. For those who are new to Hooley’s Hero’s, students recognise another student in Year 8 for an act of kindness, support and care. It makes my week when I see the box brimming with gratitude for each other, please keep it up!

I would also like to congratulate students on their participation in our annual school swimming carnival. All students who attended represented our year group with positive behavior and encouragement for their fellow peers.

On Thursday March 28 - 2024, we will be participating in the LifeChanger Program. The LifeChanger school programs focus on prevention by empowering students to champion their own mental health and wellbeing. Book it into your diaries and get excited for a fun, empowering day.

As I said, last year flew by and I was incredibly proud of your significant growth as individuals and learners. I am excited for the year ahead. Please grab every opportunity that comes your way, seek support when required and ask lots of questions.

Welcome to Year 10!

We are looking forward to another exciting year full of laughter, friendships and lots of learning. We would like to particularly welcome our new families and we look forward to meeting you over the next few weeks and months.

We hope you had the opportunity to rest up in the holidays, and that you’re ready to hit the ground running in Year 10. We have a lot to look forward to, including the school disco, some of our peer support mentors joining Year 7 on their camp later this term, organising our senior jackets and the Stage 6 Prep Program (but we’ll talk about all that later in the year).

Congratulations to Summer Moes who has been selected to represent Australia in the Under 19 Women’s Floorball (think indoor hockey) championships in Finland in May. We are incredibly excited for her and wish her all the best!

Let’s make Year 10 and 2024 the best year yet!

Miss Ashley Diterlizzi

Year 10 Adviser

Welcome back, Class of 2024! As you enter your final terms of secondary school, it might seem like a long journey of thirteen years to reach this point, but this last phase will pass by swiftly. I trust that all students had the opportunity to reflect and plan during the holidays to steer clear of procrastination pitfalls. It's essential to find the right balance between work and relaxation to recharge and refocus. The break also allowed time for recovery after the fantastic three-day Life Ready Camp at the Tea Gardens, Great Aussie Bush Camp. The instructors were impressed with the students, labelling them as the best group they've ever had!

Congratulations to all students who have taken on additional commitments in the past five weeks. This includes organizing a Valentine’s Day fundraising event with lovely serenades throughout the school and participating in the final school swimming carnival.

Your dedication and hard work are truly commendable! It's inspiring to see students stepping up and making a positive impact within the school community. Your efforts in organizing the Valentine's Day fundraising event and adding sweet serenades to the school atmosphere must have brought joy to many. As well as participating in the final school swimming carnival shows your spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

I understand that the way the swimming carnival ended wasn't ideal. Even though we had a wonderful light and sound show, we can't control the weather. You received many compliments from several teachers on your excellent performance. Apologies for not being able to have the Staff versus Students race; we all know the teachers would have won easily.

Keep up the fantastic work and continue to shine brightly with your enthusiasm and dedication. Your contributions are valued and make a real difference. Well done!

Ava Trundle, Utsav Sapkota, Amelia Stevens, Iona Jeannot, and Millie Potter deserve special recognition for their participation in the Lions Youth of the Year program. A big congratulations to Ava and Utsav for winning and advancing to the next round. Also, well done to Amelia for receiving the public speaking award. A heartfelt thank you to Mr Ardley and Miss Ellis for their support and guidance. We are eagerly looking forward to their upcoming presentations.

We have officially booked the Year 12 Formal. The Year 12 Formal is set to be an unforgettable evening filled with elegance and excitement. The brand-new Gosford RSL provides the perfect backdrop for this special event, with its modern amenities and spacious layout. Get ready to dance the night away, make memories with friends, and celebrate the end of your high school journey in style. Mark your calendars for Wednesday 20 November 2024, as this is a night you won't want to miss!

The upcoming year will swiftly unfold, offering an array of exciting events to counterbalance any difficulties. Let us welcome the joy and anticipation that await us!

I encourage Year 12 students to keep up the hard work, always striving to do your best, and showing kindness to both yourself and others.
