Year Advisers Report

Years 7, 9 & 11

Year 7 have settled well into high school. I have been getting a lot of positive feedback from their teachers about their participation and behaviour in the classroom. When I ask them how they are finding high school, most of them have said that they are enjoying it, and that it is better than primary school! It was excellent to see them actively participating in our recent swimming carnival. Quite a few Year 7's participated in a number of races.

Most parent and caregivers have received the note regardring our up-coming Year 7 Camp in April 8-10, 2024. Please try to pay in the two instalments to ease any financial burdens. If the medical forms could be returned within the next two weeks, that will greatly help with our organisation.

I look forward to a fun and enjoyable camp in Week 11, which will help us all get to know each other a lot better.

It seems as though Year 9 are all settling into the rhythm of the new school year. Here are some highlights and updates from our dynamic cohort as we navigate through the exciting opportunities and challenges of the year ahead.

I want to commend our Year 9 students for the effort and dedication they've shown since the beginning of the year. It's inspiring to see so many of you approaching your assessment tasks with such enthusiasm and determination; your commitment to academic excellence has not gone unnoticed. I have loved how enthusiastically our students have embraced their elective subjects. From exploring the realms of visual arts and music to diving into the wonders of PDHPE and technology, it's evident that our cohort is seizing the opportunity to explore their interests and passions in diverse and exciting ways.

On a more festive note, I want to extend my congratulations to all students who participated in our recent Swimming Carnival. It was fantastic to witness the energy, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship displayed by our students throughout the event. Whether you were swimming laps, cheering from the sidelines, or volunteering to help, your participation contributed to the vibrant and inclusive atmosphere of the day.

Looking ahead, just a reminder that the NAPLAN is approaching, scheduled for Weeks 7 and 8. While I understand that these assessments can sometimes feel daunting, just try your best, that is all we can ask.

As we continue our journey through the school year, let's maintain the momentum and enthusiasm that has characterized our start. Let's continue to support and encourage one another, celebrate our achievements, and navigate challenges with resilience and determination. Should you have any questions, concerns, or simply want to chat, please don't hesitate to reach out. My door is always open, and I am here to support you in any way that I can.

Welcome to the 2024 school year and to the beginning of Stage 6. I am very proud of how Year 11 have settled into the new year and the start of their final two years of schooling. Year 11 need to remember as senior students it is now up to them to be leaders in the school, particularly by wearing correct school uniform, phones in pouches and respecting all teachers. I have no doubt all students will be able to do this.

The commencement of this year has been marked by a myriad of exciting events, from students enjoying serenades on Valentine's Day to the Henry Kendall High Schools' Annual Swimming Carnival.

Students have received their “long awaited” senior jackets and even though there have been warmer days, it has been wonderful seeing them walk around proudly in their jackets.

Students have quickly settled in and enjoying participating in courses they have chosen. In Week 4 students received their assessment booklets, each student received a copy, however they can also be found on the school website or our Google Classroom Page. It is very important to make sure they read this carefully and understand the requirements that are expected of them.

The start of the assessment period can be very stressful, it is important that students remember to take care of themselves during this time. Prioritizing self-care can help manage stress levels and improve focus and productivity. It's important to stay organized, create a study schedule, break tasks into smaller manageable chunks, and reach out for help if needed. Remember to stay hydrated, eat nourishing foods, get enough rest, and engage in activities that help you relax and unwind. By taking care of your well-being, you'll be better equipped to tackle the challenges that come your way during your senior years.

I encourage Year 11 to continue to work hard and remember to try your best and as always "Be Kind"
