OUT and about

MIDDLE SCHOOL STEM | Moto GP

Students in the Middle School STEM class went down to the Phillip Island racetrack to see the Motorbikes in action. They had the chance to watch the practice for the 1000cc international superstars as well as competition races for the Moto2 and even the Junior Championships where riders the same age as the students battled it out. The highlight of the day was the smoking ceremony welcome to country and the students got to take part in a walk down the main straight as part of this.

ECO TEAM | Sustainability

Frankston High School's Eco Team met with Paul Edbrooke MP to discuss possible proposals for school based legislation around sustainability. This was a follow up meeting after going into parliament where team members spoke with the premier, environment minister and education minister. At this stage the Eco Team is setting up to support Paul in his pursuit of legislation that will hopefully see schools across Victoria funded for solar installations, with a capacity for program growth in terms of battery storage and possible micro-grid applications (where schools support energy transfer to houses in their community to decrease power bills). Legislation to support schools in wiser and more sustainable procurement is also on the table.

The Eco Team will be working hard to conduct further research to help support Paul with his legislative proposals. Eco Team will be meeting with him again to discuss what they have found and to further lock down how the proposal might look.

CRICKET | U19 Female National Championship Squad

Indigo Noble of Year 9 was been selected as a net bowler for the West Indies vs Australia matches in Melbourne last October.

It was a really amazing achievement for a 14 year old fast bowler. At the very top of her age group, in Victoria, Indi has also been training in the under 19 Victorian Women's Cricket Team. If selected in the team, she will be travelling to Brisbane mid December for the National Championships.

Congratulations Indi!
