Classroom News

The Year Fours have started the school year off with a bang. We have some spent some time the past week getting know each other and welcoming some new faces into our school community. Although we were stuck inside with extreme heat, the students took this as a an opportunity for some post-holiday bonding time! It has been so wonderful to see happy and excited faces each morning.

In Religious Education we have been discussing communities and the different roles people play in society. We have enjoyed discovering the many communities and groups that our peers are a part of.

In Mathematics, we have been reading, writing and saying numbers into the ten-thousands and extending our knowledge of place values. We have also been enjoying learning new games and warm-ups to get us engaged and ready for our lessons!

In our reading rotations we have begun practicing the strategy of predicting! This skill helps us to show our deeper understanding of texts and their characters.

This week we will dive into our first HASS unit – geography! We are excited to learn more about Africa and Europe, exploring their differences, similarities, plants – and of course – animals!

The Year Fours are ready and raring to dive into our first term of school for 2024!
