Assistant Principal's Message

Dear CHPS community,

Well to say it’s been an exciting month is an understatement with Taylor Swift fever reaching Clifton Hill Primary School. Megan’s themed outfits leading up to the big day, together with the Taylor themed corridor added to the anticipation for those lucky enough to have secured tickets. As Taylor performed her final concerts in Sydney last week, we will continue to celebrate the achievements of all women on March 8th, International Women’s Day. IWD is a day dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the globe. It’s also a day to discuss, promote and celebrate advances in equality for women.

Purple, green and white are the official colours of International Women’s Day. Purple signifies justice, dignity and being loyal to the cause, green represents hope and white represents purity.

Our library will re-open again next week, with teachers taking classes and books available for take home borrowing. Students will have the opportunity to read titles highlighting wonderful women who’ve done great things and become terrific role models along the way. Clifton Hill PS has an extensive collection of the Little People, Big Dreams books, the titles of Greta Thunberg, Malala Yousafzai, Harriet Tubman, Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be of particular interest this week.

The Year Four classes had a full day of discovery at Scienceworks last week, visiting the planetarium viewing Tycho goes to Mars and also attending new exhibitions relating to scientific concepts of force and movement. The students should be commended on their exemplary behaviour and active participation, it was a fun and interesting day.

This week marks the first week our foundation students attend full time. We have enjoyed watching them thrive in the school environment and look forward to continuing getting to know them as the year progresses.

Happy Autumn and International Women’s Day to our school community,

Susan Williamson

Assistant Principal
