𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫. 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝!

There was an industrious hum amongst the presenting 3/4 students on last Thursday afternoon as they showcased their term's worth of inquiry to an intrigued and proud audience of family members, staff and friends for their much anticipated ITime Expo.

In what was a very successful culmination to their final inquiry unit for the year, 𝐿𝒾𝓋𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝓃𝑜𝓃-𝓁𝒾𝓋𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈 𝒾𝓃 𝒶𝓃 𝑒𝒸𝑜𝓈𝓎𝓈𝓉𝑒𝓂, the research topics and presentations on display were diverse, impressive and engaging. With topics ranging from 'how to grow alfalfa' to all manner of facts relating to biomes, animals, insects and plants, the presentations encompassed several forms of media including time-lapse video, posters, handmade books, dioramas, Keynote and more.

Congratulations Year 3/4 on a dynamic term's worth of inquiry and for a sparkling presentations.

Advent Liturgy

Ushering in a season of hope, reflection and joyful expectation, the college came together to celebrate Advent on Monday, December 4. Beginning a four week period of preparation for the nativity of Jesus Christ at Christmas, SOW students assisted in the reading of prayer, followed by the lighting of the first candle on the Advent Wreath.

Foundation Christmas Play:

On Friday, December 8, the Foundation students presented a Christmas play to celebrate their inquiry into how they and others, express themselves in different ways. They shared the traditional Nativity play as well as other Christmas songs to the delight of families and friends in the audience. It was a joyous and very merry way to express the tidings of the season.

St Anne’s Christmas Concert and Community Picnic

Gifts of time, song, love and joy are what Christmas Concerts are all about and although the weather did not play along, the college's very own concert was nonetheless a cosy and special affair. Moving indoors to the stage area, families, friends and staff settled upon picnic blankets and chairs to thoroughly enjoy the SOW children sing Christmas carols to their hearts' content. It was a most jolly and festive community event to remember!

Bringing the joy: SOW end of year activity and celebration day

𝓜𝓸𝓻𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓪𝓷 𝓪 𝓼𝓹𝓵𝓪𝓼𝓱 𝓸𝓯 𝓯𝓾𝓷...Thursday's SOW activity day was a tidal wave of mirth, laughter and pure joy as the children from Foundation to Year 3 enjoyed a well-earned, end of year celebration. With waterslides, games and activities designed to soak with happiness, the children completed their celebration with a scrumptious BBQ lunch.

Teeing-off a special celebration for our Year 4s

Can you believe that the college's inaugural Foundation class have now celebrated the end of Year 4! Where does the time go? On the cusp of stepping into the School of Innovation in 2024 as the College's first Year 5 cohort, the students enjoyed a very special celebration day all their own on Thursday. Heading off to Emerald Bank for a round of mini golf and a picnic lunch, the students had a rollicking good time before heading back to the college for a very special ceremony, commemorating their graduation from the School of Wonder.

Supporting their soccer heroes

There is nothing like a true fan. Monday's annual and mighty Staff vs SOI Students soccer match might have been epic, but it was the die hard fans that fuelled the fierce, but friendly competition. You can read more about the match in the Making Headlines page of this newsletter.

True Christmas Spirit

In an amazing effort, Year 1/ 2 classes have generously raised $133.80 for the St Vinnies Christmas Appeal. Fabulous work!

Hats and Sunscreen

In Term 1, it is a school expectation that we are all wearing hats when we are outside. If a student does not have a hat, they are required to stay under the covered areas provided. Please ensure that hats are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

All students are reminded and encouraged to bring their own SPF30 (or higher) broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen to school. Staff will oversee the safe use of sunscreen.
