From the Principal

Benvenuto - Welcome

It is just a little unbelievable that we have come to the end of another school year.

Reflecting on day one when our little Foundation students came through the door for their first experience of ‘big school’ and our older students took a courageous step into the Senior Secondary schooling world, how far we have come.

Those little Foundation students who are amazing, vibrant, capable learners gave a rendition of the ‘Little Drummer Boy’ at their Christmas concert last Friday and it was one to remember! Whilst our first cohort of Year 12s for 2024 spent the day reflecting on leadership and goal setting for the year ahead as they continue to prepare for their final year of schooling.

But as another successful year comes to an end, we must also make ready for the next. An exciting day, full of anticipation and perhaps a few nerves, the Statewide Transition Day on Tuesday was an excellent opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with their 2024 Learning Mentors. Given the very busy time of year, it was also wonderful to welcome several of our new teaching staff for 2024, and of whom will inspire and guide the learning of their new students.

Our end of year college Mass was a lovely occasion last Friday and we were most grateful for Fr Rene and Fr Ruel for presiding so beautifully and for Elizabeth Holligan for putting the Mass together and organising all the participants. We were able to announce our Student Leadership group for 2024 as follows:

College Captains:

Chiara Villani

Jesse Minicozzi

House Captains:

Cooper House – Coutney Miller, Charli Guppy

Charles House – Delana Cavallaro-Trask, Matisse O’Brien

Montessori House – Zoe Monteleone, Dante Mori

Majella House – Riley Carkeek, Emily Zampaglione

We look forward to these students developing their leadership skills and sharing their gifts and talents whilst leading the student community in 2024.

During the liturgy there was opportunity to pay tribute to the life of Ruby Gribbin, our Year 7 student who sadly died last Tuesday. We reflected on the sense of sadness and loss we have felt for Ruby as a friend, a classmate and a valued community member. We extended our thoughts and prayers to Crystal (Year 11) and her family. The tragic loss of a young life reminds us how precious and fragile life, love and relationships are. How we should treasure and value every single day, every friendship, every joy and always let the words we speak be full of grace.

So please go into the holiday break cherishing your family and friends, finding the moments of joy and celebrating together.

May you experience all the joys and blessings of Christmas.
