Student Pathways

As the school year draws to a close I would like to clarify the expectations of the first week back in 2024.

For students who are enrolled in a VET course for 2024, your first day at Gotafe is Wednesday, February 7. This means that your first day back at St Anne's College will be Thursday, February 1 for VCE VM students in year 11 & 12. For students in the VCE, with a VET course, you can attend your VCE classes on the first day back on Wednesday, January 31 and begin Gotafe as per the scheduled commencement day, February 7.

For students in VET Sport, Aquatics & Recreation at St Anne's College, your first day back will be inline with the college return date of  January 31.

Please also check your emails from time to time (including spam/junk folders) during January for any communication from your Gotafe trainers.

VCE VM students in year 11 & 12 are expected to be in a SWL placement on Fridays. There are no scheduled classes for these students on these days (with the exception of students enrolled in VET Certificate II Active Volunteering on Fridays at St Anne's College). If students are yet to secure a SWL placement, they should use this time on Fridays to approach suitable employers to set up their placement.

I would like to wish you all a safe and happy holiday. I look forward to another busy and exciting year ahead.

VET Courses offered onsite in 2024

St Anne’s College is thrilled to announce that we will be offering two VET Courses onsite in 2024.

Vocational Education and Training delivered to secondary students (VETDSS) provides students with flexible pathways either into employment or further studies, all while formally contributing to the satisfactory completion of the VCE and VCE VM. VET qualifications are nationally recognised - by both employers and industries, and further education providers (Like TAFE institutes, Universities, and private training organisations).

The two onsite VET certificates that the college will now be pleased to offer are:

- Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation (delivered over 2 years)

- Certificate II in Active Volunteering (delivered over 12 months)

These VET courses will be available to students in year 11 & 12 VCE & VCE VM. (Please note the Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation is a two-year course, so students going into year 12 will not be eligible to receive the full VET certification. They will, however, be eligible to meet the minimum 180 hrs VET required for the successful completion of the VCE VM.) St Anne’s will remain in partnership with Gotafe and continue to have access to their wide range of VET programs on offer.

These additional offerings of VET onsite at the college, are in partnership with iVET and provide broader vocational opportunities and potential career paths.

If your student is in year 11 or 12 in 2024 and missed out on receiving an offer for a Gotafe VET course for 2024, or if your student is interested in gaining a Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation or Certificate II Active Volunteering, please complete the application form that was sent (as a link in a letter) to Families via email on Thursday, November 9.
