Dear Parents, Carers, Staff, Students and Friends of Derinya,

Over these past few weeks the school has been a hive of excitement, celebration, joy and a whole lot of Christmas Cheer!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank this years student leadership group who have done an outstanding job leading our school. 

Christmas Breakfast

Thank you to all families for their very generous donations to the Salvation Army at our Christmas Breakfast last week. It was fabulous to celebrate together and to give to those less fortunate. 

Final Assembly 

Our last assembly for the year will be held on Wednesday next week at 9am. At this assembly we present our final Principal’s Awards and farewell our year 6’s. All are welcome to come along and join us in celebrating 2023. 

Beginning of 2024

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school at the commencement of the 2024 school year. Monday 29th January will be a pupil free day across the state. Tuesday 30th January will be the children’s first day of school. 

Graduation

Congratulations must go to our year 6 students who had their formal graduation ceremony on Monday. The students presented themselves beautifully and it was a wonderful celebration of their seven years of primary school. Many thanks to the staff who supported the children and did the organisation behind the scenes to make the evening so special. 

To our departing families who have their youngest child finishing primary school, thank you. I am so grateful for the strong partnerships we have between home and school here at Derinya. We appreciate all that you have done over your time as Derinya families and we wish you well. 

This will be my final communication for 2023. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Please stay safe and well. I look forward to seeing you all in 2024.
