The Gap State High School P&C  invites students, family members, staff and the community to join us in celebrating International Women's Day.

TGSHS Excellence Program & Out-of-Catchment Parent Information Session #2

Who: Current Year 5 and 6 Parents/Guardians that are interested in our Excellence Programs

When: Thursday 8 February 2024 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm

Where: TGSHS Auditorium

 

This session is for parents and guardians that have children who are interested in finding out information about our Excellence Programs, our out-of-catchment process and what sets The Gap SHS apart from others. This is the second session for this series. Last year we held a session for parents, and this is the next instalment. We will touch on some of the same information again but share further details about the programs and why families should choose The Gap State High School as their education provider for their young person.

    • Have arrived and are being processed
    • Year 7 – Issued in Week 4 after camp
    • Year 8-12 – Issued either at the end of this week or beginning of week 3. As they are formatted students will be called down to collect theirs.
  • BYOD Laptops
    • Year 7 – please bring in Week 4 - Onboarding Day (Connect teachers will notify)
    • Year 8-12 – please see the  IT Department to resolve any connection and school software issues
  • QPARENTS – Online Consent for 3rd Party services.
    • You should have received the Third Party Online Consent Email this week
    • Please consider carefully the request as these services are integral for teaching and learning –  only student email, first names and year level are usually stored.

    • If you are not registered with QPARENTS please consider joining as it expediates many of the school processes. It  is secure and highly efficient. Please also ensure your email and other contact details are up-to-date by contacting the school office if necessary.

GP in Schools Pilot

Welcome to the team - Dr Tania Macdonald (New GP)

 

Dr Tania Macdonald completed year 12 with an OP1 at a public school in Logan. During her schooling years she was fortunate to have an oversea German exchange, which was one of the highlights of her schooling. She then completed a Bachelor of Medical Science at QUT, during which she spent time volunteering at a Medical centre in East Timor.

She completed a Bachelor of Medical Science before completing her MBBS in 2011 under a scholarship. Dr Macdonald went on to work for 4 years in the public hospital system in Logan, with specialty placements in emergency paediatrics and obstetrics to name a few.

 

Dr Macdonald completed her GP training with the RACGP in 2018. Since then has had 12 months speciality placements in Indigenous health, Orthopaedics and in Refugee Health.

She has also worked in South Tasmania as a rural GP for over 12 months.

 

Dr Macdonald’s special areas of interest include (though are not limited to) womans health, sexual health, paediatrics, fracture management and chronic medical conditions. She has extensive experience in mental health, and always has an open door policy for an acute mental health issues.

 

In her spare time she enjoys distance running and adventures anywhere and everywhere with her active kids and husband.
