Meet The Teacher Evening

It was great to see so many parents at our Meet the Teacher Evening, held last Tuesday evening. We hope this event gave families an opportunity to visit classrooms, engage with teachers, and gain valuable insights into our programs and routines.

At Trafalgar Primary School, we firmly believe in the power of strong parent-teacher partnerships. When parents and teachers work together, the educational outcomes for our children are always enhanced. We greatly appreciate the active involvement of our parents in their child's education journey, as it contributes significantly to maintaining the wellbeing of our students and fostering a supportive learning environment.

We understand that due to unforeseen circumstances, some families may not have had the opportunity to meet their child's teacher during the event. If you were unable to attend or missed the chance to connect with your child's teacher, we encourage you to reach out to the school administration office to arrange a separate appointment. Your child's teacher is eager to meet with you and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

Once again, we extend our gratitude to all the parents who attended Meet the Teacher Night. Your active participation and ongoing support are integral to the success of our school community. We look forward to continued collaboration and partnership throughout the year.

2024 Term 1 Music Update

The new year at school has started and music classes and instrumental lessons are underway in the TPS Music dept. Music classes this term have a focus on musical instruments and instrument families. All the students are enjoying getting their hands on musical instruments and creating music straight away. All instrumental teachers have started this week also and the music rooms are ringing with creative sounds.

We are currently sitting at 90 students who have already signed up to do instrumental music at TPS. Our 6 teachers all still have a few vacancies, so it’s not too late to sign up for the program and get your form in.

You can find a full description of the instruments we offer, bios of all the teachers and a digital instrumental music form here - TPS Music site/Instrumental. You can also get a form from the front office, or just outside the music room at the Instrumental form box. Return it to the front office or into the box and we can start lessons as soon as possible.

Trafalgar Primary School is proud to offer students an extra-curricular Instrumental Music Program where students have the fantastic opportunity to learn and play a musical instrument of their choice. We hire specialised music instructors (professional musicians) who guide students in developing an appreciation and enjoyment of music in individual and small group lessons. These essons offer an opportunity to have fun making music on the student’s chosen instrument and become a better musician under the guidance of an expert on that instrument. We also have opportunities to perform music outside their classroom work at instrumental concerts.

Breakfast Club

What a fantastic start to Breakfast Club at Traf Primary School! We've been cooking up a storm of fresh toast and cheese toasties, as well as serving yummy cold Milos and cereal to provide a healthy breakfast for our hungry learners!

Due to our generous sponsors, Breakfast Club continues to be able to support our students with breakfast and also provide Care Packages for families.  We would like to personally thank IGA Trafalgar, Gracie's Bakery, Baker's Delight Mid Valley and Foodbank for their generous donations and support again this year.

Our Traf Pantry (found in the Gym Foyer) continues to be stocked with many excellent products, available to anyone - and they’re free! If you would like to receive a Care Package or know of a family who may benefit, feel free to drop into our School Office, see Mrs Burns or Mrs Marslen.  Any extra Milo donations would also be greatly appreciated!  We are looking forward to seeing you all at Brekky Club!

School Crossings Reminder

Baw Baw Shire is committed to providing a safe environment for all students commuting to and from school. To help achieve this we need the community’s help.

The Role of School Crossing Supervisors

Crossing Supervisors are there to assist children cross the road in safety on their way to and from school. Children may not understand traffic laws or be aware of their surroundings, and small children may not be readily visible to drivers. In Baw Baw, we have over 33 school crossings where our supervisors attend to help kids cross the road safely.

Safety in School Zones

Due to an increase in traffic at drop off and pick up times, both traffic and parking issues can pose a risk to the safety of children. Educating kids and encouraging safe driving behaviour can help improve safety in the school zone.

Please make sure you are always looking out for Children around School Crossings and never stop on a school crossing (within the red and white posts) and never drive through a School Crossing whilst there are pedestrians on it.

Parking Signs and What They Mean

No parking signs

If there is a 'no parking' sign, you can stop for 2 minutes in that area:

  • if you are picking up or dropping off passengers or goods
  • you stay within 3 metres of your vehicle.

If you stop in, or partly in, an area showing a no parking sign and you are not picking up or dropping off passengers or goods, you are considered to be parked and can be fined. This is the case even if you stay with your vehicle.

No stopping signs

If there is a 'no stopping' sign, you are not allowed to stop or park your car in, or partly in, that area for any reason, including dropping off or picking up passengers

Bus Zone

A driver must not stop on a bus stop, or within 20m before the bus stop sign and within 10m after the sign.

Baw Baw Shire actively monitors school crossings to ensure the safety of pedestrians and students attending schools.
