PE News

Welcome back everyone! We hope you have all had a wonderful holiday break with some down time but also hopefully enjoyed some physical activities together as a family!

We are ready to go again in 2024 and we already have a few sports events coming up!

2024 District Swimming: Year 3-6

Qualifying times are below - students are required to be able to swim 50m in their preferred stroke confidently.

Qualifying Times:

50m Freestyle Under 55 secs
50m Backstroke Under 60 secs
50m Breaststroke Under 65 secs
50m Butterfly Under 65 secs

If you would like to submit your time to me, please email laura.yorke@education.vic.gov.au to be considered for District Swimming.

Senior Gala Day: Year 5 & 6

The first Senior Gala Day is also coming up on Friday 1st March (week 5). Over the next couple of weeks, we will be trialling students for team selection of the various different sports: Basketball, Cricket, Sofcrosse, Tennis, Volley bounce & Tee ball.

If you are available to assist with trainings on a Friday (12:15-1:30pm) or help on the Gala Day (9:30 - 2:30pm), please contact Jarrod Butcher via email jarrod.butcher@education.vic.gov.au

A compass event will be sent out in the coming weeks for parent consent and payment.

PE reminders:

Just a reminder for students to wear their sports uniform, runners & hat for their PE  lesson and Friday Sport (year 1-6). Please also wear your hair tied up and bring a drink bottle.

Laura Yorke and Jarrod Butcher are in the process of putting forward nominations for Team Vic trials for the following sports, Australian Rules, Cricket, Basketball, and Soccer. It is important to note that all students must be recommended by their P.E. teachers or the Principal. If your student is nominated, they will bring home a form to start the application process. Nominations close on March 1st.

Many thanks,

Indonesian News

Salam,

In Culture Club in Term 1, I am trying to record a simple song in as many languages as we can to show the whole school the diversity of languages we have within our school community. I would like to strongly encourage any students who speak another language at home, or who can speak another language to come along and have some fun making a unique CHPS mix.

The song words are below, I have tried to ensure that the lyrics are simple so that students of any age or ability can participate.

One, Two, Three, Flower

Four, Five, Six, Flower

Seven, Eight, Nine, Flower

Ten, Flowers

In Week 2, students will work with other students who speak the same language to write their words. After that, students will practise singing the song in their languages and finally we will record the students singing. From all of the recordings we will create a mix of the languages. I will also require students to sing in English and Indonesian for the mix, so any students can volunteer for those parts too.

I am really looking forward to hearing the sound of our students singing a shared song in many languages.

If you think your child may be interested in attending, Culture Club is Tuesday Recess in the Indonesian classroom.

Terima kasih,

If you haven't already, please return any medical forms and medication to the office.

Please note the sunscreen we have available in classrooms is the Ego Sun Sense Performance 50+.  If you wish your child to use an alternative brand, please supply with your child to school.
