Sustainability

Hello parents and families, we are the 2024 Sustainability Captains, our names are Hugo, Evie, Hannah and Rhys.

Our roles around the school involve promoting the nude food program, managing the bins and organising sustainable activities around the school.

Clean Up Australia Day:

This year Ocean Grove Primary School held our own Clean Up Australia Day! On Friday our year 4 students helped clean up our community by visiting the Ocean Grove Park to pick up rubbish. The whole school did a school grounds clean up after recess. We were so impressed with the lack of rubbish in the yard. This is due to our nude food lunches, special eating areas and hot spot bins! Well done OGPS.

Dress Up and Donate Sports Equipment Day:

Last Friday we had Dress Up and Donate Sports Equipment Day, where you were invited to dress up in any sports gear and bring donations of old sports equipment to be used in the Gym and around the school. This provided both a sustainable and cost effective way to replace our missing sports equipment.

Thank you to year 5 students Zoe, Gaeb, Evie and Violet for organising this event and for all of your generous donations.

Earth Hour:

This year we are shining a spotlight on nature loss this Earth Hour Schools Day! OGPS will ‘switch off’ all our technology to show that they care about the future of our planet, by switching off for one hour

We will be encouraging students to Wear it Wild for a gold coin donation on Friday March 22 and help our school raise critical funds for wildlife conservation in Australia and around the world!
