Jessica seems just like our other Prep mums at CJC, but she is making history at our school, with her daughter Louna…
L’École Française de Melbourne opened its doors in 1998, using classrooms within Caulfield Junior College, to deliver a French binational program driven by a passionate group or parents seeking to provide their children with an education that was both Australian and French. The first French Elective class consisted of only 12 to 15 students across all year levels.
One of these pioneer pupils was Jessica!
Her dad, Peter (photographed) is also a former president of the EFM.
The program proved to be an immense success! The ongoing demand for the program, along with a desire to consolidate its future at the school led to the full integration of the French program into CJC in 2017. Never had such a large privately run bilingual program been integrated into a government school setting – a true testimony to the work, innovation and dedication of the many people who contributed to the success of a project that now boasts over 350 students.
Since January 2017, the French Binational Program has been governed by the leadership team at CJC on behalf of the Department of Education of Victoria, under the guidance of Mr Chant as principal, and Mme Pommier as our French director.
Earlier this month, Louna made history by becoming the first ever second-generation pupil in the French Binational Program at CJC.
We wish her great success with her primary school education and way beyond!

Jessica est comme toutes les autres nouvelles mamans d’élève de grande section, mais elle contribue à l’histoire de CJC avec sa fille Louna…
L’École Française de Melbourne a ouvert ses portes en 1998, occupant quelques classes au sein de Caulfield Junior College, pour offrir un programme géré par un groupe de parents enthousiastes souhaitant donner à leurs enfants une éducation à la fois australienne et française. Ces premières classes avaient un effectif de 12 à 15 élèves, incluant tous les niveaux scolaires.
Jessica faisait partie de ce premier groupe d’élèves !
Son père, Peter (photo) est également un ancien président de l’EFM.
Le programme s’est avéré un immense succès ! La demande grandissante d’inscriptions au fil des années, et le désir de consolider l’avenir du programme, ont entraîné son intégration à CJC en 2017. Il s’agissait d’une première pour un programme d’une telle envergure de s’intégrer à une école publique. Cette grande réalisation à été possible grâce au travail acharné, à la vision innovante et à la détermination du groupe de personnes ayant contribué au succès de ce projet qui est désormais fort de 350 élèves.
Depuis janvier 2017, le programme français binational est géré par l’équipe de direction de CJC, représentant le ministère de l’Éducation du Victoria, sous le pilotage de Mr Chant, directeur de l’établissement, et de Mme Pommier, directrice du programme français.
À la rentrée 2024, Louna est entrée dans l’histoire de CJC en devenant la première élève de seconde génération au programme français binational de CJC.
