Kitchen Garden

Grow, Harvest, Prepare, Share

Kitchen

During the last two weeks, all classes in our school participated in a cooking activity where they learned how to make chocolate and zucchini cupcakes, tzatziki dip, and focaccia. The students who made focaccia were given the opportunity to choose their toppings from a selection of ingredients that were provided. Some of the toppings included fresh tomatoes from the school garden, grated cheese, finely chopped garlic, and freshly picked rosemary. The students were excited to experiment with different combinations of toppings and to see how they would affect the taste and texture of their focaccia. Overall, the activity was a great success, and the students had a lot of fun learning new skills.

Parent Volunteers

We are now seeking parent volunteers for our upcoming cooking and gardening program later this term. Parents will be assigned to work alongside their child in either the kitchen or garden unless otherwise requested.

 Our Upcoming Menu

We are excited to announce that our upcoming menu will showcase some delicious dishes made with fresh produce from our school garden. The menu includes bruschetta, served on freshly baked bread made by the older year levels. The bruschetta will be made with juicy tomatoes picked straight from the garden. We will also be serving crispy zucchini chips made with the abundant supply of zucchini that we still have in our garden. The chips will be lightly seasoned and baked to perfection. Finally, for dessert, we have a mouth-watering pear crumble made with ripe pears from the garden and topped with a golden crumble layer. We can't wait to share these dishes with everyone and hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

GARDEN

Autumn has arrived and that means lots of garden jobs to do, lots of seed collecting and lots of summer produce to harvest.

We had a busy day harvesting White marrows that grew over Summer, we look forward to tasting them in our yummy recipes.

Loads of sweet tomatoes are ready to pick and taste delicious straight of the vine.

Every year we collect bean seeds from our end of season stalks, these will be used to plant next season and to take home to grow our own magical beanstalks.

Sky & Bobby our goats and Galaxy & Mystery our guinea pigs are glad we're all back in the garden, enjoying pats and feeds.

Great weeks in the garden.

Happy Gardening
