Principal's Report

Dear St A’s Community,

Another busy fortnight in and around our school!

Last Friday we had an amazing sports carnival for all of our students!  What a fantastic days of events, cheering and fun for al of our students.  Thank you to all of our community that came together to help celebrate this occasion.  the smiles on the students faces was great to see!

This week our students in Grade 3-6 have been participating in our school swimming program at Core 24 in Somerville.  We believe that these lessons are essential for students that live in our bay side community and it was fantastic to see so many of our students taking advantage of this opportunity.  Many schools in our area do not par take in school swimming lessons, so our community is very lucky that we are able to provide this school funded program for all of the students in our care!  Prep to Garde 2 will get their opportunity later in the year.  Thanks to all the families for the organsiation it takes to organsie the students daily with dry bathers and their belongings!

Next week we celebrate 'Catholic Education Week'.  This week is an opportunity for all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne to celebrate their Catholic identity, the pivotal role they play within their local community and the strength of the sector. This year’s theme, ‘In the light of Christ’ is drawn from the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools strategic plan, MACS 2030: Forming Lives to Enrich the World. Christ is our inspiration, the very life of our purpose as Catholic educators. Everything we do is illuminated by this. In every age – including today – there are people who are light for others through their commitment to the poor, refugees, children, through their care for the environment, we hope that through this theme that our students come to a further understanding about what this means.  Our whole school will be celebrating Mass with father Chinua on Tuesday 12th March @ 12:30 in our school hall, and we have our School leaders attending a special Mass and celebration at St Patrick's Cathedral on Friday 15th March. Students in class will be working through activities relating to the theme.

Today is International Women’s Day. On behalf of all our community we thank the many women within our community for all they do for their family, our school and the wider community. We thank you for the people you are, for the love you give to your families and for the contributions made to our wonderful school, workplaces and community.  We have some absolutely amazing women in our community and understand the sacrifices women make for others! We pray for women who are vulnerable,  for those who are unwell and for those who struggle and grieve. May God's compassion be with you all.

This week we welcomed some new library monitors to our team!! Well done to Ronan Redmond and Cobus Walravens for stepping out and being exceptional helpers!!  Well done on wanting to be active community members!

If you have a child that is ready to start Prep 2025 next year, please collect an enrolment pack from the school office.

Show Grace, Be the Joy for others, and God Bless.

Enjoy the longggggg weekend!
