School Council Message

We’re back!

To all of our new families – welcome to our school community; to our returning families, it is great to have you back at ASPS for another terrific year! I trust everyone enjoyed the school holidays and is as thrilled as I am to have the kids return to school.

A number of school improvements have been undertaken during the break, and parents will notice that works have commenced on the new front entrance garden/play space. Additionally, enhancements to the main bathroom  block have well and truely begun, with painting and other updates completed over the holidays. Some other exciting elements of this projects are to follow shortly, so watch this space! My thanks to Lisa Oaten and Jane Khoo, respectively, for leading these projects.

These improvements could not have proceeded without the support of parents through the parent fees levied by School Council. These fees fund many services and activities that would otherwise not be offered, including our school nurse, the Stephanie Alexander Garden and a range of school improvement projects, just to name a few.

To our new families, our school’s success relies on a strong partnership between our outstanding team of educators, led by our wonderful Principal Marcus Wicher and our parents. The Parents’ Association, led by Annie Strauch, run a fantastic programme of events throughout the year – these provide a great opportunity to meet other parents, so please get along and get involved!

School Council elections will also be held in the coming months. If you are interested in serving on council or a council committee, or if you want to raise an issue or provide council with any feedback, please reach out to me or Vice President Anthony Hunter – we would love to hear from you.
