Urban Camp Melbourne

We would like to really celebrate our Grade 5/6 Students for their resilience, responsibility and respect while on camp. A highlight for us as teachers was the fact that the students showed amazing resilience to be able to enjoy all of the activities that we jam packed into the two and a half days. Can you believe we trekked 35 kilometres around Melbourne, jumping on and off public transport, with a real zest for whatever was coming next! Our sense of community also shone through as we engaged many people around us in a kind and inquisitive way. So much so, that sometimes our teachers had to tell us to leave them alone (haha). We would like to say a huge thank you to Amber Townsend and Rohan Aldous who accompanied us as parent helpers. Your enthusiasm and kindness was second to none. We would also like to thank Mr Hogan and Josh for everything. We really do appreciate you all.

ASM/MCG

UGH!!! After a 3.5 hour drive we finally reached Melbourne. We went straight to the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Australian Sports Museum for our tour. We started off with the ASM. We got some sweaty sweatbands and raced off. There were so many games to choose from I didn't know where to start. After all of the excitement I moved on to the MCG tour, now this is where it got Incredible. Nobody wanted to wait, we all just wanted to start the tour. Sue was our guide. She was fantastic. She told us all about the MCG. She told us this one fact that will be in my head forever, there is a bright red seat in the MCG that Peter King hit for the Australian team.

Boys To The Bush

On Thursday, in the first week back of Term 4, the Grade 5 boys finally got their turn to go to Boys To The Bush. We got to school and waited eagerly for the bus to come. Our Instructors for the program, Shannon and Adrian arrived and drove us to the Boys To The Bush shed where we met Dicky. He went over the rules and expectations for the program and we played ping pong, pool, basketball and rode scooters. Then we drove to Marool Caravan Park in Moama where we planted egg plants and pulled out heaps of weeds. Then we went the Rich River Golf Club to have lunch. We had carbonara parmies or fish and chips. Then we got a free ice-cream. We left Rich River to go to the Adventure Playground in Moama before we headed back to school on the bus. Thank you TPS, BTTB and Bendigo Bank. We had so much fun.

Boys To The Bush

Today (Thursday 24th October) for Boys to the Bush we set up chairs at the Sound Shell for Beersheba Day. Then we headed to Echuca to go to FitMob for a very tiring exercise session, I fell over on the last exercise because I was exhausted, but it was worth it. We then went to Dominoes to get pizza and garlic bread for lunch. We ate lunch at the Echuca East playground and then we played Basketball, Adrien was on my team and Shannon was in a team with Lachie. We then headed back to Tonny for the Beersheba Day ceremony, Kane and I got to lay a wreath and also hop in a the army tank and hold a gun, we finished the day by helping pack up and then hopped on the bus and headed back to school.

Round 1 for Tonny 2 was a mixed bag. Billy’s team won 5-2 against Echuca East, while Lucas' team lost 4-3. Round 2 was another good round. Kevin’s team won 4-3 and Amber’s team won 4-3 against Kennington 2. Billy’s team won 4-3 and Lucas team won 4-3. Round 3, Kevin’s team won 5-2, Amber’s team won 6-1. Billy’s team won 5-2, Luca’s team won 4-3. Then came the Grand final. Tonny had to play each other! A big congratulations to Tonny 2 who won and are now moving on to State Lawn Bowls in Melbourne! Overall, the day was amazing. I would like to say a big thanks Mr Hogan and to our coaches who helped use on the day and thanks to all the teams that  travelled all the way for an amazing day and games.

Hands On Learning

SPLAT!  The concrete fell into the muddy hole. Our job today was to dig out holes for our new flag poles because they went tumble, tumble in the big storm! We had to get a massive, long bolt with three washers and one nut, but then we run into a sticky situation where the nut would not go on so we had Brett to sign us out of school so we could  run down the street to our favourite place, G.T.S. Luckily for us, they had just what we needed; ten washers the same size. We had a lot on our plate with a lot to do but we got it all done. For lunch we had kranskys, and lucky Amber got to cook. She cooked the bacon, onion and kranskys on the barbeque. We then added cheese and tomato sauce before eating them. Thank you very much Brett as we had a lot of fun today.
