Week 3 & 4 Updates

Spanish

Bienvenidos to Term 4!

We’re excited to kick off this term with a vibrant celebration on 1st November —our Spanish Fiesta Day featuring a special Día de los Muertos theme! Join us as we celebrate this beautiful and colourful Mexican tradition.

We are also having delicious Quesadillas

Let’s make this term unforgettable with fun, food, and fantastic celebrations!

Performing Arts

Our younger classes have been thrilled to welcome back the music program this Term. Students are actively researching and selecting their performances for the end-of-year concert, showing great enthusiasm and creativity in their choices.

Physical Education

Hey Sunny Heights,

The students last week were able to catch up with each other with some fun play! Now the good stuff starts with all students learning volleyball this first half of the term.

Few term reminders!

Swimming for the 3-6 students will be held from the 11th to the 15th of November

Sports Day for the Prep - 3 students will be held on Friday the 22nd of November

STEM

Over the last few weeks, students have been developing their confidence and skills in the world of Digital Technologies! Prep students have been using ScratchJr to make their own algorithms using a range of block code. Students in Grade 1 and 2 are now using OctoStudio to code their own games. They are learning about the functions of each block and suggesting ways to fix bugs in algorithms.

Students in Grade 3 and 4 are learning to code in Minecraft! Students have learnt about repetition (loops) and conditionals to make it rain chickens and make a 'Guess my number' game.

Grade 5 and 6 students are considering user interface design to make their own mock websites. I have been blown away by their creativity and passion to consider the user when creating designs. Keep your eyes peeled in the next newsletter for examples of student websites!

Visual Arts

Our art studio is buzzing with creativity as students work hard on their pieces for the upcoming Art Show on December 5th! From Preps to Grade 6, everyone is fully immersed in exploring new techniques and refining their skills. Students are also diving into reflective practices, asking questions about their work, experimenting with colour and form, and supporting each other with helpful feedback. The dedication and enthusiasm are truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to share their fantastic creations with you soon! Thank you for supporting their artistic journeys!
