The 2024 Secondary Athletics Carnival at Leighland Christian School, held over 28-29 October at the Penguin Athletics Track, was a fantastic celebration of student athleticism and school spirit. With beautiful sunny weather and high participation across all year levels, students gave it their all, and several records were broken throughout the two days, adding to the excitement.
The carnival crowned champions across each track and field category. In Year 7, Jakai shone brightly as both the Track and Field Champion, while Christine and Ellen were crowned Year 7 Girls Track and Field Champions, respectively. Year 8 saw similar success with Jasper taking both Track and Field titles for the boys, and Aysha and Jessica earning Track and Field Champion titles for the girls. In Year 9, George secured the Track Champion title for the boys, sharing the Field Champion award with Eli, while Hope and Josie were the Year 9 Girls Track and Field Champions. Year 10 champions included Joshua and Samuel in the boys’ categories, with Mia sweeping both Track and Field for the girls.
These champions will be presented with their awards later this term. Next year, the Athletics Carnival moves to Term 1, giving our students a new opportunity to compete in the NSATIS Athletics Carnival, proudly representing Leighland Christian School and honouring their God-given talents.
