PREP & JUNIOR ENGLISH 

Prep & Junior English

This term, we will be implementing some changes in our Prep & Junior classrooms. These changes are in response to the range of abilites in reading across the cohort and our commitment to ensuring we are teaching every child at their point of need.

To ensure we are meeting the needs of all our students in Prep and Juniors, students will be working across all 4 classrooms for 1 session (1hour) on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. 

• These sessions will focus on phonics, reading and spelling. 
• Students will move back to their own rooms for their writing session.

This will help to reduce the range of reading abilities within the 1 room, allowing the teacher to more effectively cater to the varying needs across the cohort

• Myanna - stages 3 & 4
• Georgie - stages +4-6
• Kate - stages 7.1-7.3
• Abbey - beyond stage 7.5

These may change as students progress. A note will be sent home with your child informing you of who their reading teacher will be.

Home Readers

Home readers will be sent home by your child’s reading teacher.

• Students will bring home new readers on a Tuesday & they will be collected the following Monday
• Students will need to keep their home reader books in their bag each day
• Home readers will start next week (22nd October)
