Ryan’s Rambling
Dear Families,
Week Two has come to a close and our students have well and truly settled back into learning routines.
Our Swimming Program began this week with Foundation, two 1/2 classes, and 5/6 classes all completing a solid week’s worth of swimming lessons at Federation University. Thank you to the many parent helpers who assisted staff with the important job of ensuring the changerooms operated smoothly. Thankfully, there was minimal lost property over the course of the week. Next week, our 1/2s and 3/4 classes will head to the pool to complete their lessons. Again, I thank the parents for their support.
On Tuesday evening, our school held a Parent Information evening for the parents of our enrolled 2025 Foundation students. Two of our student leaders, Cooper and Ava, presented to the group about our Specialist Program and Buddies and Mates. Each of their speeches were commendable and I was very proud of how well they represented our school.
On Wednesday of this week, our school hosted ten school principals from the Central Highlands South network, as they completed learning walks across some of our classrooms. The network of principals contacted me as they were interested to learn more about our practice. As many of you know, our school had some fantastic NAPLAN Reading and Writing results this year. It was nice to be about to share our practice and reflect on our achievements. Many of the principals commented on the skilled instruction of our staff and the positive attitude to learning demonstrated by our students. A wonderful endorsement for our school.
Our Japan travellers also returned from an extraordinary trip, this week. Soe of the highlights were visiting traditional temples and shrines, visiting our sister city, Inagawa-cho, Universal Studios and dressing up as samurai. Whilst they are utterly exhausted, I am so happy that these students got the opportunity to participate in this opportunity. A very special thank you to the staff at Newington Primary School, who ensured our students were included and well cared for.
Have a fantastic weekend.
Ryan 😊
