Modeling

In art this term our students will be using different mediums with their hands creating models.

Looking at famous artists, we will talk about details of painitings such as size, manipulation of the medium type used - paint, clay, plaste, marble etc.  With Class 3/4 we spoke on what art galleries are and what types of art they house, artworks on lone, security for very valuable pieces.  What make makes an art piece valuable?  Lots of questions following their visit to the Art Gallery of Victoria last term during camp.

Today our 3/4 Class enjoyed making playdoh in our new kitchen space.  Working in groups of 4 they followed a recipe and cooked it on the stovetop adding colour at the end.  Once cooled students kneed the dough and divide it into even pieces to start creating their model.

Whilst each group had their turn in the kitchen others used view finders of different sizes to loook at particular spots on printed art works to define the details.  Using a veiw finder helps the eye to concentrate on a specific area. Accomping these pictures where discriptions of the artist and the painting.
