Fences and Gates on Victoria Road North and Victoria Road South
As a result of a review of our Child Safe practices we are making changes to the fences and gates around the school.
Parents will have noticed the changes to the fences and gates on Victoria Road North and Victoria Road South. We have extended the fence to the south of the Year 4 building and replaced all of the open exit points with lockable gates. The gates will be unlocked during the hours of Penpraze Park and be locked during school hours.
These changes are being made so we can improve the safety of our students during school hours. It will reduce the ability of uninvited people entering the school grounds and prevent children from leaving the school grounds unsupervised.
As from Wednesday 6th November (Day after Melbourne Cup Day) the gates will be locked at 9am by the yard duty teacher.
From 9am to 3.30pm access to the school will only be via the main gate near the General Office. This will mean that if your child has not arrived at school before 9am, you will need to drop them off through the front of the school (Tooronga Rd).
Parents are reminded that if their child is late for school, they must bring their child into the school and sign them in at the office. Children cannot sign themselves into school.
Parents who need to exit via Victoria Road North or Victoria Road South in the morning, will need to have exited the school by the time the gates are locked.
We realise that this may take some time for parents to get used to, but hope you can appreciate the importance of this action to support the safety of our students.
